  • WarbleRecords.com is the web-cave for musicians Sustentacula, Seance Crasher, Julian Snow, David Liabraaten, Daniel Rafn, & Coronation. While our styles may differ, our dedication is the same. Warble is a deliver-er of hotly contested art, curated by perfectionists eager to learn. We live in Portland, Salem & Silverton, Oregon.

  • Mr. Warble debuted in the mid-1990s as an unusually unstable microcassette message. The first Warble long-player was pretty unremarkable, but nonetheless did feature drum wizardry from one "Skippy", later of Black Francis' band. The die was firmly cast with Julian Snow's third Warbler, "Doodle" (1998). Concurrently the elder Rafn (David) set up with his "seminal Portland post-rock" band Kremlin Bronx.

    The two trains (J. Snow + Rafns) collided in the fall of 2001 at a Bloody Muse show in Keizer. Meanwhile, the Warble imprint took up temporary hibernation while David LiaBraaten and Julian launched Subsun. Sneaking back into circulation c.2007 with low-profile releases led by Keizer lo-fi legend Peter DeGroot, Warble consolidated its position in 2010 with Daniel's sharp website and a friendly takeover of the Subsun catalog (including releases by Root Villa and Anbot Rodroid). David L. returning to the fold c. 2011, the big tent now warbles into the future.
  • You & Me Both is from of Calling Out of Context (material from 1973 - 1992, released 2004). Place I Know / Kid Like You comes from World of Echo (1986), an album Arthur Russell chose not to include lyrics to. In Daniel's desire to have specific words to sing for his version, he aimed to 'translate' his vocal phrases into something concrete, while keeping in mind that, as Steve Knutson at Audika Records has said, "Arthur was using sound as language and language as sound." Cello on 'Place I Know / Kid Like You' performed by Nick Emerson.

  • For Seance Crasher's 2nd record, Rafn recorded his material on 2 inch tape with engineer Jeremy Wilson of Dharma Bums. The 6 tracks featured on Piano Pills were culled from the most studio-worthy results of his prior years of song writing. The songs come from a myriad of inspirations: dreams, growing up Mormon, watching Dark Shadows, 100 Years of Solitude and piano lessons. Most of the tunes were written while house sitting other peoples' dogs.

  • Cool Evidence is Coronations' latest single. Featuring their customary Italo-disco sound sonically, and a dark-seduction vibe from Joshua Blanchard's vocals. The group is this year a trio with David LiaBraaten joining as percussionist and hype-man.

  • The Murmuring Pines first recording, The Night & the Bell catalogs Julian's meditations and nightmares that arose from his habitual night-walks through Salem streets in the fall & winter. The songs are each a haunting of their own themes, and range from the uneasiness of contemplating death, to the personified love affair between a Salem fixture church-tower bell, and the night herself. Much from this album was tracked live in Tom Nunes' living room with all five members of the group. At the time, the roster was Julian Snow, Katy Allen-Farris, Lilly Gamaney, Beth Scheppke, Jaime Hamre, & Daniel Rafn.
